THE BEGINNING
August 16 was our 48th Anniversary! These photos are the beginning of our life together with lots of fun along the way. On the left is our first "together" photo. It is significant because.....do you see my beautiful Tiara? It was the custom 48 years ago that the veil would cover the bride's face until the couple was pronounced man and wife. And it covered my face beautifully!
See Randy's handsome white jacket that he borrowed from a friend for the wedding? Well......as he was raising my beautiful veil to give me the wedding kiss, he stopped in mid-air and just looked at me. I became even more nervous and thought maybe he had changed his mind!!! Oh no!! I whispered, "What's wrong?" as a church full of people were staring at us and wondering what in the world was up!! He whispered back, "If I go any higher, I'll rip the arms out of my jacket - it is too tight!". I whispered back, "What are we going to do?"
By this time, all the people were beginning to giggle nervously here and there! Without warning or telling me, he leaned down and just put my veil over his head and joined me under my veil!! I was so astonished and nervous that when the kiss ended, it smacked loud enough to hear clear in the back of the church! He ducked back under to the other side of my veil so proud of himself for being so creative as I was desperately pushing the veil back over my head! All our family and friends broke out in loud laughter and applause! My face was quite red walking back down the aisle! :D
BUT....I paid him back at the reception!! Look at the size of that cake I stuffed in his mouth! Oh yes....I loved getting even, but I'm not sure he was embarrassed at all. He just enjoyed the cake! Let the fun begin!!
